Problem:

An excavator operator accidentally ripped through the existing mains water copper service, damaging it before the water meter. We therefore could not shut the water off.

Solution:

We folded the copper pipe over to pinch it and stop the water from flowing. We then froze the water in the pipe, creating an ice plug. This allowed us to cut out the damaged copper and replace this section “live, under pressure”. We re-connected the pipe work and defrosted the plug.
