MINOR PLUMBING PROBLEMS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE

MINOR PLUMBING PROBLEMS YOU SHOULD NEVER IGNORE

Sometimes minor issues can be overlooked and dismissed as minor inconveniences. Even minor problems such as a running faucet or a leaky toilet can cause more serious problems.

It is imperative that you call a plumber immediately if you are ever faced with any of these plumbing issues.

1.LEAKY FAUCET

While a constantly dripping faucet is irritating, it can also be very dangerous.A leaking faucet can lead to serious water damage, depending on how severe it is and how long it has been leaking.Even small leaks can cause water loss of up to 3,000 gallons per year.This will make it more expensive to water your home than you actually need.

Leaky faucets could be caused by a variety of factors, so it is best to call a plumber to fix the problem.

2.LOW WATER PRESSURE

Low water pressure can be a problem, but it is not as serious as you might think.If your water is less clear than usual, it could be a sign of a serious problem with your plumbing system.

* Pipe leaks

* Pipe obstructions

* Pipes that are damaged

* Pressure regulators and valves that are damaged

You should not ignore any of these issues that could be causing your water pressure drop.These issues are not easily fixed by DIY. The solution?The solution? Call a plumber to diagnose the problem and repair it.

3.BACKED-UP DRAINS

Call a plumber immediately if you see water backing-up in your bathtub , shower , or through your floor drains.Water backing up is an indicator of a major sewer problem. Although it is often caused by a blockage or a small leak in the mainline, this is not something you can do yourself.

Back-up sewer lines may be due to tree root intrusion. This is because the pipe is buried underground. An overfilled or clogged septic tank could also be the cause. Without a professional inspection it is almost impossible to find the source of the problem. You will need to hire someone to help you.

4.RUNNING TOILET

A single running toilet can lose hundreds of thousands of gallons of water each month.If your toilet leaks and it is running constantly, you may have water damage to areas that aren’t visible (such as your floorboards).

Running toilets can also be a problem in your plumbing system. This is why it is important to call a plumber to fix the problem.

5. SHUT-OFF VALVES DAMAGED

You should have at least two shut-off switches for each tap in your home. One is for the cold tap and the other for the hot. Also, you should have a main water shutoff valve to stop water from flowing throughout your house.

If one of these valves is damaged or broken, you could have hidden water leaks which are costing your home money every month. And you will continue to flush money down the toilet until you know if you have leaks.

If the main shut-off valve becomes damaged or malfunctioning, it’s imperative you get it fixed as soon as possible. Turning off the main shutoff valve in the event of a home’s burst pipe, or any other serious emergency is the best way for water to stop flowing. If you cannot locate the source of the leak immediately, this is especially important.

If the valve becomes damaged and it isn’t possible to turn it off your home can sustain water damage which will need costly remediation.

6. SCALE BUILDUP

Hard water can be caused by a lack of a water softener. Plumbed appliances, such as your dishwasher or washing machines, can also become scaled.

Although mineral buildup may seem insignificant, it can pose a serious problem if it becomes too severe. Scale buildup over time can cause water pressure drops, blockages, corrosion and, if severe enough, pipe cracking. Mineral buildup can also impact the efficiency and functional life of water-using devices.

If your water pressure is dropping or you have noticed scale build up in your pipes, white vinegar may be able to help. However, it is best to contact a plumbing professional to determine the best method to eliminate that buildup.
